     When was Samut Songkhram town created was never recorded but it was understood that the District of Ratchaburi called "outer" later in the Ayutthaya period consistent with the Thon Buri period. Is separated from Ratchaburi called "Muang Mae Klong ".

    Samut Songkhram has historical significance in the reign of King Taksin. Thonburi is the capital city. The city  prevent the invasion of Myanmar in that time period.

Samut Songkhram is approximately 72 kilometers from Bangkok is approximately 416 square kilometers area. Divided into 3 administrative districts, including Muang district, Amphawa district and Bangconti district.
